The Online Library’s enquiry service has an exciting new addition – an AI-powered chatbot. You can still talk to a librarian in real time by clicking the green ‘Chat with us!’ tab on the Online Library website. But if a librarian is not available to chat, you will talk to our chatbot instead. This means that you now have 24/7 library support.
When you talk to our chatbot, explain what you need in short and simple sentences. Make sure that your spelling is correct. If you are looking for a specific book or article which you cannot find in our Summon search engine, the chatbot can show you our research guides, but it will not know where the item is.
The chatbot will give you the option to leave a message for a librarian. We will email you as soon as we can. The librarians also review all chats with the chatbot and we will email you with further information if the chatbot didn’t fully answer your question.
We are always working to make the chatbot more helpful. At the end of a chat you will have the option to give feedback. Alternatively you can give us feedback using this webform. We will appreciate hearing your thoughts as we work to improve this new addition to the Online Library.
