Why does RefWorks say 'Your institution was not found'?

Our answer:

When you try to create a RefWorks account, you may see a Oh no! Your institution was not found error.

Please make sure that you are entering your University of London email address. This is usually your Portal username (e.g. ab123) followed by @student.london.ac.uk. The Do I get a student email account? FAQ has more information.

Also make sure that you are trying to access RefWorks from Summon. The reference management software page explains how to do this. If you go to RefWorks by another route (for example, from Google), RefWorks will not recognise you as one of our students.

If you have followed these steps and still see the error, please open a different internet browser and try again.
