Ask a Librarian Live Chat

The Online Library provides a live chat service, Ask a Librarian Live Chat, in addition to other ways you can contact the Online Library Enquiry Service. Students can use this service to chat with librarians in real time.

It is available on Monday-Friday, from 9:30am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 4:30pm London time. Outside of these hours, you can still click on the Contact us! tab to send us an email.

To start talking with us, click Chat with us! in the green tab in the bottom left corner of the screen. You'll be asked for your name, email address and student number before the chat starts.

If you try to chat with us during these hours but are told that we are offline, this means that we are busy chatting with other people. If this happens, please refresh the page after 10 minutes and try again.

If you are a SOAS student and need an Athens account, or want to reset your password, please don't use Ask a Librarian Live Chat. Instead, fill in this form to request an Athens account, or use this link to reset your Athens password.

Please watch this demonstration of how to use Ask a Librarian Live Chat on Youtube, or read the transcript of the video.

You can still contact us by emailing us at onlinelibrary@london.ac.uk, or telephoning us at +44 (0)20 7862 8478, or using our contact form.
