To mark World Book Day, we wanted to tell you about our favourite libraries and invite you to tell us about yours?
Our favourite Library is of course the Online Library! The Online Library is a rich resource, tailored to the needs of our distance learning students, and accessible anytime, anywhere.
Our next favourite Library is Senate House Library.
Senate House Library is the central Library for the University of London, based in the iconic Senate House in London. Specialising in the arts, humanities and social sciences, the Library is a rich resource, with over 2 million books, thousands of journals and a wide range of other material. The Library is also home to 50 ‘Special Collections’, such as the Goldsmiths’ Library of Economic Literature. Added to this, the Library also stores a significant number of archival collections, including the University of London archive.
University of London distance learning students get free reference access to Senate House Library, so if you are based in London or just visiting, check it out for yourself!
Senate House Library also hosts exhibitions each year. The current exhibition is ‘Childhood in Dickensian London’ and marks the 150th anniversary of Charles Dickens’s death.
With over 100 million digital items, your Online Library also contains a significant number of items relating to Charles Dickens; you can see some of these in Library Search. Remember, you can use Library Search to search the Online Library to find resources to support your studies, and you can get help from a librarian by contacting the Online Library Enquiry Service.
The Online Library and Senate House Library are our favourite libraries. We’d love it if you told us about yours here.
