Joining the Senate House Library

Senate House Library, University of London, is a major academic library for the Humanities and Social Sciences, both nationally and internationally.

Please note that the Senate House Library cannot lend items by post, nor are its electronic resources (other than those provided via this web site) available outside the library.

Any student registered with the University of London's International Programmes is entitled to membership of Senate House Library, on payment of the University of London membership fee. Library membership charges for international programme students are:

  • Annual borrowing (10 books) - £210.00
  • 3 month borrowing - £70.00

In addition, all International Programme students are entitled to one reference visit free of charge (usual price £7.50).

If you wish to come and use Senate House Library you must bring with you all three of these:

  • Photographic ID, e.g. national identity card, passport (ID requirements).
  • Proof of address, e.g. utilities bill, bank statement, driving licence
  • Confirmation that you are registered on an International Programme, e.g. Certificate of Registration.
