Ask a Librarian Live Chat Pilot

The Online Library team is pleased to announce that we are piloting a live chat service. Students are able to ask librarians questions in real time.

Ask a Librarian Live Chat was launched on the 24th October. It is available on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays, from 9:30am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 4:30pm London time. Outside of these hours, you can still click on the Contact us! tab to send us an email.

To start talking with us, click Chat with us! in the green tab in the bottom left corner of the screen. You'll be asked for your name, email address and student number before the chat starts.

If you try to chat with us during these hours but are told that we are offline, this means that we are busy chatting with other people. If this happens, please refresh the page after 10 minutes and try again.

If you need an Athens account or want to reset your password, please don't use Ask a Librarian Live. Instead, fill in this form to request an Athens account, or use this link to reset your Athens password.

You can still contact us by emailing us at onlinelibrary@shl.lon.ac.uk, or telephoning us at +44 (0)20 7862 8478, or using our contact form.

Please watch this demonstration of how to use Ask a Librarian Live Chat on Youtube, or read the transcript of the video.

At first Ask a Librarian Live Chat will be in a pilot phase, so we would love to have your feedback on this.

We look forward to talking to you!
