The Art Of Blessing the Day: Poems With a Jewish Theme by Marge Piercy

With titles such as "the Ark of Consequence", "the Aunt I wanted to be" and even one dedicated to Matzo, this book of poetry offers readers a combination of wise, occasionally whimsical often wizened view into all the Jewish holidays. So, if you have a kvetch about the kaddish or need sympathy after tsimmis with your zun...this may be the book to break out during the week's repentance.

Musaf Service for Rosh Hashanah

Students can listen to the moving music of the service, starting with the HIN'NI by renowned Moses J. Silverman, (who passed away 40 years ago this year). Silverman, a fourth generation cantor was known as a melodic meister, who's voice was heard and known across Chicago's temples (mostly performing for the Anshe Emet synagogue). Much of this service is not orchestrated in the earliest Musaf services but has developed throughout the years. In this particular recording are also the voices of the composer/cantor, Joshua Lind,  Rabbi Israel Goldfarb (brother of liturgical composer, Samuel Elizier Goldfarb) and most notably, Vaudeville and Yiddish Musical Theatre composer, conductor and personality, Abraham Ellstein.
