The next time you login to Westlaw using your Athens account, you may be asked for your name and email address. This is part of an upgrade by Westlaw on Saturday the 16th of December. You do not need to provide your email address.
Once you have done this, you will see new features:
- You will be able to create folders online where you can save your documents as you research. You can create and manage folders by clicking ‘My Folders’ at the top of the page.
- Another new feature is the ability to create alerts. This allows you to create alerts which monitor Cases, Journals, Current Awareness and Legislation, for selected legal subjects. To create alerts, click ‘Alerts’ at the top of the page.
Westlaw's guide on the upgrade has details on these new features.
When you try to login to Westlaw from the Summon search results, you may be taken to a page where you need to click 'Sign in with OpenAthens'. For details, take a look at the Westlaw login guide.
Please note that you cannot use these new features when you login with your portal password.
As a part of this upgrade, Westlaw has changed its name to Thomson Reuters OnePass on the MyAthens website. To access Westlaw this way, click on Thomson Reuters OnePass, then select Westlaw UK from the drop-down menu.
If you have any problems with or questions about this upgrade to Westlaw, please contact the Online Library.
