Joining the Senate House Library

Senate House Library, University of London, is a major academic library for the Humanities and Social Sciences, both nationally and internationally.

    • A wide range of electronic resources.
    • A number of outstanding research collections

Please note that the Senate House Library cannot lend items by post, nor are its electronic resources (other than those provided via this web site) available outside the library.

Any registered University of London distance learning student is entitled to use Senate House Library on a reference basis, either as a place to study or to access the Library's collections.

Students need to show their University of London ID card, along with a form of a photographic ID, at the Library's Membership desk each day they visit. On your first visit, bring proof of your home address. The University of London ID card must bear the University of London logo (as shown at the top of this webpage). You can use your virtual ISIC student card.

In addition, distance learning students who wish to borrow books from the Library can join the Library on payment of a fee, as detailed below.

  • Annual borrowing (10 books) - £210.00
  • 3 month borrowing - £70.00
